この曲と同時期の2003〜2004年の「美しい道」や「もみの木」と同じで、ある友人夫婦の離婚をモチーフにしている。
当時、yumboのライブに毎回来てくれていた人に「他人の不幸をネタにした曲は書くべきじゃないよ」と言われたのを憶えている。
離婚した彼らをダシにして曲を書いたのは事実だけど、彼らのどちらかを攻撃したり、揶揄したりする意図は無くて、飽くまで歌詞のアイディアの元になったというだけなんだけど（もっと悪いかもしれないが）。
後になってガイ・ブラックマンがオムニバスCD『Songs For Nao』で取り上げてくれたり、カール・ブラウがカバーをしてくれたのはとても嬉しかった。
このレコ発ツアーで演奏されたバージョンでは反原発ソングとしてアレンジを刷新しているが、これ以降は演奏しなくなってしまった。
この時は山路さんが曲の途中でガムテープをバリバリ鳴らしているのが聴こえる。
